To the editor:
I am writing to tell you how much my family considers Lake Placid and the surrounding Adirondacks home.
We are from Toronto and have been coming to Lake Placid for several years. My husband and I have traveled extensively but always consider the Adirondacks our special spot where we feel most connected.
I completed Ironman July 24, and it was a remarkable event, by far the most memorable exceptional Ironman I have done. You cannot beat the beauty of the surroundings, the crowds, the venue, the race organizers and the people who put their heart and souls into making it so unique.
Truly, the spirit of the place made me feel like a rock star all day long. As an athlete, the course tests you in remarkable ways making the finish so meaningful and rewarding.
We will return next summer to vacation again and my husband plans to register for Ironman at that time. Our bucket list now consists of owning property there one day!
Thank you for welcoming us with open arms — we love Lake Placid!
