Hat’s off to the Olympic Village and all those involved for putting on another great Fourth of July celebration.
Once again the “Set the Night to Music” fireworks show was a hit, and special thanks go out to Dennis Ryan and fellow volunteer producer Glen Stacey — and the entire crew of volunteers who helped organize such an amazing staple of the Lake Placid Fourth tradition.
Thanks for both the village of Lake Placid and town of North Elba, the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department, Police Department, the Ambulance Service and Lussi family for their roles in making this “blast” happen.
Also, the Lake Placid I Love BBQ Fest sweetened the recipe for a successful holiday weekend. Music and food are always a welcome addition to any Fourth celebration — and thanks to Dmitry Feld and the Shipman Youth Center for helping build an event that will only get more popular as the years go on.
Another holiday staple is still going on. The Horse Shows are still taking place at the Horse Show Grounds with the next Grand Prix scheduled for Saturday and a children’s favorite, the Doggie Parade takes place at noon on Sunday.
If that’s not what you enjoy, try the Firematic races that are part of the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Field Day taking place at noon Saturday, July 9. Admission is free and if you’ve never seen this fine display of firefighting skills, don’t miss it.
The summer season is well underway in the Olympic Region and there’s plenty to do and see — whether you’re a visitor or long-time resident. So get out and enjoy, and thanks to all those who help make this area a top-notch location for fun.
