A kid’s perspective on winter

Lake Placid News
To the editor:

Hi, my name is Chelby. I live in Lake Placid. Here in Lake Placid we get sun in the summer, wind in the fall, rain in the spring and snow in the winter. That is what’s special about living in Lake Placid. In some places like California or Florida, they get sun and rain yearround.

Many people come to Lake Placid for all the winter activities. You can ski and/or snowboard at Whiteface Mountain. There are trails for cross-country skiiing and snowshoeing. So you can never get bored.

Some people say that it is too cold here or that there is no point in living here because of the weather. Sure it can get a little chilly during the winter, but that is why you should dress appropriately. You should wear snow pants, turtlenecks, long socks, heavy coats, hats, gloves and neck warmers.

Oh, and don’t forget, we did hold both the 1932 and the 1980 Winter Olympics. I hope you can now see what good comes from winter.
