April 1, 2011
DEANNA SANTOR
The Luke Garcia Fundraiser will be held at Riverside Lanes in AuSable Forks on Saturday, March 26. This event begins at 1 p.m. with a 9-pin bowling tournament with shifts following at 4 and 7 p.m. Michigan dinners will be sold throughout the day. The meal includes 2 michigans, chips and dessert for $8. There will also be a one Michigan dinner with chips and dessert for $6 available. Take outs will be available. Raffle tickets will be sold with many beautiful items being raffled. A 50/50 will be sold throughout the day. A live auction with many wonderful items going on the auction block with Auctioneer Jamie Martineau in command will begin at 7 p.m.

This promises to be a fun day for everyone. Luke, the 16-month-old son of Chad and Marla (Perkins) Garcia was recently diagnosed with congenital mitral stenosis. He has had one of several surgeries he will need at Boston’s Children’s Hospital. He will require follow-up visits with his Cardiologist in Vermont in between these surgeries.

All proceeds from this event will assist the family with expenses exceeding their health insurance coverage, travel and lodging expenses. Marla, Chad and Luke extend their gratitude to everyone who has shown so much support to them during this very difficult time and ask everyone to please continue their prayers for Luke as he continues his journey.

Riverside Lanes owner Gary Lanzoni hosted his annual St. Patty’s Day Party on March 17. A delicious meal of corned beef, ham, cabbage, carrots, potatoes and turnips prepared by Hometown Deli was served all day beginning at noon free of charge. A huge crowd gathered for the celebration and enjoyed the day. The DJ service of  Gary Peacock provided great Irish music and trivia throughout the day and evening. A 50/50 was sold throughout the day and the lucky winner was Mitch Dickerson.

Hats off to Gary Lanzoni for his generosity and making this event so enjoyable to all those attending. The last leprechaun left standing was Tim Nelson.
