To the editor:
The Wilmington Youth Council held its firstt Broomball Night on Feb. 4 and it was a great success in getting adults and youth to enjoy an evening of fun together. Approximately 50 people turned out to enjoy our skating rink.
A very special thank you must go to Paula McGreevy who came up with the idea and planned the event. She has been an intricate part of the Youth Council for many years. We must also thank Mark Holzer for maintaining the rink and making it perfect. Several sponsors stepped up for the event to ensure its success.
We had an anonymous generous cash donation to help buy the equipment and refreshments. Whoever you are, you are a very special person.
Roy Holzer and the Little Supermarket donated 120 packets of hot chocolate and Susan Hockert and the Visitors Bureau donated 160 hotdogs, rolls and condiments. Bob Hockert supplied the wood for a wonderful bonfire so everyone could keep warm while enjoying the evening. Maria Corvelli baked brownies and shopped for all kinds of yummy snacks. She also made all the preparations for preparing the food.
Thank you to the many chaperones who answered Paula's call for assistance. It was a good night for the newly hired Youth Center Director, Amber Stevens, to meet and greet both parents and youth.
