Lake Placid News
To the editor:

Lake Placid Beautification had an outstanding year in 2010. Our community looked beautiful all year. We are grateful to our staff and the following for their support and help: Butch Martin and his Park District crew, Stuart Baird, Brad Jacques, The Lake Placid Water Dept., The Lake Placid Water treatment department, Larry Straight and his town highway crew, The Village Highway Department, Pete Kroha, Ginny and the crew at the Village Electric Department, The town and village boards, Chief Scott Monroe and the Village Police Department, everyone in the town hall the Garden Club of Lake Placid and all businesses, individuals & organizations that have supported us and continue to do so every year. We all work together to create the look of our outstanding community. Thank you everyone and we look forward to working with you in 2011.

A sincere thank you to Jepper Devlin, Jeff Myatt, Charlotte LaPlante, Jamie Rogers, Clair DelNegro, Paige Devlin and Dinah Reid for one of our most spectacular summers. A special thanks to Jen Pabins and Brittany St. John, whose extended stay, devotion and hard work went way beyond our expectations. You all did an exceptional job and we are grateful.

New projects completed this year were the heart shaped garden near the tennis courts, meter pots in the beach area, large hanging baskets around Mirror Lake Drive, as you leave the South end of the Village, there are new barrels and a large hanging basket. Several long window boxes were placed along the wall in the village parking lot across from NBT bank, continued expansion of the “white” garden on Mirror Lake Drive and re-construction of the large garden at the base of Olympic Drive. One of our new areas to be enhanced in 2011 is the entry sign area at the municipal parking lot near the Post Office, Mid’s Park and the corner of Mirror Lake Drive and Morning Side Drive.

As you can see, our organization depends on the generosity of many. With on-going community support we continue to grow. It was recently 22 below zero! We are hoping for an early spring!
