To the editor,
At Thanksgiving time, the Lake Placid Ambulance Service would like to express our appreciation to the community for their support during 2010.
First, special thanks to our volunteer members and paid staff, who have responded to more that 1,325 calls so far this year, 24/7. This is up more than 100 from 2009!
We appreciate the financial donations from individuals and businesses to our annual fund, Town of North Elba, Ice Out Benefit, memorial donations, The Kingsley Foundation and Price Chopper via the Golub Corp.
We would like to acknowledge the gifts in kind from our medical director, Dr. Michael Pond, the Lake Placid police, fire, highway, and water departments, the Uihlein Foundation, Ginny Hazelton, Sally McKeen, Eileen Valentine, Joan Mesec, the Ice Meisters, families who choose LPVAS for memorial gifts and mutual aid support from Saranac Lake, Keene, Wilmington and Ausable Forks ambulance squads.
During 2010 we provided many stand-bys including several for the fire department functions, LP Regatta, Kiwanis Teddy Bear Picnic, LP Horse Shows, Touch a Truck, Plunge for a Cause, Ironman, LPElem School Carnival, “Huffing for Stuffing” charity, Xterra, ECAC hockey tournament, and in December will be at ORDA’s bobrun for the Bobsled/Skeleton World Cup. We hosted two ARC blood drives and joined the village parades.
A Christmas tree sale is being sponsored by the LPVAS at the village parking lot on Old Military Road near the fire station. We invite you to support this effort.
We thank everyone for helping us help you.
