To the editor:
The Adirondack Friends of the Animals is ending its volunteer organization after almost 10 years of helping to improve the lives of the dogs and cats in the Tri-Lakes area.
Carol Scofield and Annoel Krider established AFOA in 2001 and since then, along with other loyal volunteers, have accomplished a variety of projects including the installation of air conditioners for the animals at the Tri-Lakes Humane Society, sponsoring educational ASPCA seminars for animal shelters, stocking the food banks with dog and cat food and a Spay and Neutering program, just to name a few.
The Spay and Neutering program was established in response to the ending of the Mrs. Aust Pet Care program in 2004 and the realization that the need to continue to help people spay and neuter their pets was important. This program could not have continued without the help of the many local businesses in the area which displayed our canisters to collect funds.
To all our loyal friends and patrons who also helped in the efforts of Adirondack Friends of the Animals ... over the years your donations have helped immensely.
We thank you, and animals thank you, too.
