LAKE PLACID — One building already stands at the former site of the Charcoal Pit on Saranac Avenue, and construction recently began on a second. But as of last Tuesday night, no one has signed a lease to move in.
According to the property owner Charles Hubbard, of Stamford, Conn., there has been some interest.
“I had a few deals in the past that sort of fizzled out,” Hubbard said last week. “But I actually received two calls about the property, just today. As it’s getting closer to being built I think more people are getting interested.”
Hubbard bought the property roughly two years ago, and began demolition last summer. He said ultimately he imagines having a small restaurant in either the first building, already built, or the second, which is under way.
“I think there could be a really nice patio space with the right landscaping,” Hubbard said. “I would put in bushes to one side, good lightening ... but I’m getting ahead of myself. I need someone to sign something first.”
