To the editor:
A group of Canadian canoers and kayakers participated in the Lake Placid International Regatta on Mirror Lake on July 2,3,and 4. It was a fantastic event, and we enjoyed superb, friendly service from hotel, motel and campground staff and very patient store employees and servers during a very hot and busy holiday time.
A particular thank you to the couple sitting on their porch at end of Mirror Lake who got up, rang a bell and cheered on the weary paddlers as we passed by in the 10 km race on Sunday morning. Everyone — especially those of us over 50 — really appreciated it! We can’t wait to come back next year, or maybe sooner.
