A new brochure that includes a map and descriptions of various features along the Cranberry 50, a hiking trail that circumnavigates Cranberry Lake, is now available to the public.
The brochure is designed to be a resource for hikers interested in exploring this region. It includes information about the trails, backcountry ponds, lean-tos and natural resources on the trail. It was developed and produced through the combined efforts of volunteers, with the technical and financial assistance provided by the Northern Forest Partnership Program, New York Department of State and Brookfield Power.
“We are pleased to make this brochure available to the public, and we hope that it will serve an important role in connecting the public to our wild lands and our small communities,” said Sherm Craig, who worked with Jamie Savage to coordinate the project for the 5 Ponds Partners, in a press release. “We feel that responsible recreation in the Cranberry Lake region can help our local economies while building respect and appreciation for our natural resources. “
The new brochure will be available at local outfitters and also for a $5 fee through the web page www.cranberrylake50.org.
