To the editor:
This is to request that the Lake Placid News clarify the role of its “World News” commentary writer (Frank Shatz) based in Williamsburg, Va.
The past few weeks have proven to be no exception to long-term advancement of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, “America’s Pro Israel Lobby,” agenda in the News with no apparent editorial/management oversight.
¯March 5, 2010: Headlined “Straight talk diplomacy,” Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu continues an Iran war propaganda buildup as AIPAC and its self-styled “neoconservatives” did in the buildup to the Iraq invasion.
¯March 26, 2010: Headlined “Reality check,” Netanyahu is glorified as another tough guy in the wake of Israeli defiance of American policies and insults to our highest government officials.
¯April 2, 2010: “Williamsburg as a model” outlines an absurd Jerusalem
Foundation plan to use “Greater Williamsburg” as a model for “Greater Jerusalem.”
In contrast to the above, Gen. David Petraeus, today’s most respected and senior military official, has testified to the U.S. Senate that the Israel-Palestine conflict and widespread anger in the Middle East over Washington’s favoritism for Israel is hampering regional partnerships and fueling recruitment by Islamic extremists.
Vice President Biden told
Netanyahu that his actions and policies were undermining the security of our troops fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, “endangering us and endangering regional peace.”
Thank you.
