LAKE PLACID — Keitha M. Bigelow, 79, of Greenwood Street, and a resident of Lake Placid for more than 50 years, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid.
She was born in Potsdam on July 16, 1930, the daughter of Earl and Erma (Crossman) LaPoint.
Keitha had been a waitress at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Lake Placid American Legion Post 326 Ladies Auxiliary and was very active in activities at the Greenwood apartments, assisting with coffee hours, ice cream socials and birthday parties.
Keitha is survived by her husband, H. John Bigelow of Lake Placid; one son, David Ledwith (Deborah) of Bradford, Pa.; four daughters: Cheryl Ledwith of Lake Placid, Pamela LaPlante (Kevin) of Saranac Lake, Valerie Allen (Toby) of Jay and Dawn Ledwith of Laconia, N.H.; three sisters: Leah Kent and Erma Gerardt, both of Syracuse, and Frieda Preston (Duane) of Lake Placid; one brother, Lawrence LaPoint of Hermon; three grandsons; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers: Clarence and Carlton LaPoint, and three sisters: Harriet Smith, Marilyn Cota and Patricia Streeter.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Jan. 23 at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. The Rev. Joseph Morgan officiated. Burial will be in May in St. Agnes Cemetery.
