To the editor,
Once again, the Skate into 2010 skating event on the Olympic Oval New Year’s Eve was a great success! Young and old, residents and visitors alike came out to celebrate the New Year with us. The party hosted approximately 400 people, and raised $1,000 for the Lake Placid Food Pantry, along with a box of food donations.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for a successful event: ORDA for the donation of ice and staff; the Lake Placid Kiwanis club for their sponsorship and assistance, (especially Glenda Mitchell and Steve Preston); the Connecting Youth and Communities Coalition for their support; Jason and Ashley of Ashley’s Cafe for their help and generous donations. Also, Bev, Phil and Linda for providing skate rentals; Joan Goldthwait for her hospitality assistance; ORDA staff members Craig and Eric, and Michael for providing entertainment; Judi from Compass Printing for printing the posters; and Redd for the poster design. I would also like to thank my mom Linda for sitting in the snow for two hours collecting admission!
