Motorists kept safe on bad roads

January 2, 2010
Lake Placid News
To the editor:

I’d like to thank the volunteers of the Wilmington fire and rescue squad for their excellent work Saturday morning.

Five vehicles hit the black ice on Route 86 by Paleface and skidded off the road. Luckily no one was seriously injured. Trooper McCormick and the two ambulances from the Wilmington volunteer fire and rescue squad were on the scene very promptly to assure that everyone was OK and no one else would encounter this danger until the salt truck could do its job.

Also, thanks to the corrections officer who arrived and made sure that everyone was alright and in a safe and secure place before the pros arrived.

Again, thanks, guys and ladies, for all your excellent work keeping our community safe and sound. Your service to the community is priceless.
