LAKE PLACID — Virginia Tillotson Adams, of Naples, Fla. and formerly of Lake Placid, died on Saturday Dec. 26, 2009, as she lived, with uncomplaining, selfless dignity.
She was born on July10, 1923 to Dr. Byron C. and Victoria P. Tillotson in Fort Edward.
She lived as a devoted caregiver; first to her loving husband of 41 years, Arthur C. Adams. She balanced her devotion to her children Celinda Freeman (Stephen Church), Greg Adams (Nancy) and Joan Adams (Mary Rustico) with the call to nursing.
Her compassion for humanity was shared with patients at Lake Placid Memorial Hospital, Uhlein Mercy Center and Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle. Her treatment of others in her generous, nonjudgmental manner will be missed by her entire family including her five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She passionately served the community of faith through the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid and the Centenary Methodist Church in Greenwich.
She is survived by brothers and sisters: Olin Tillotson ( Brenda ), Joan S. Tillotson, Chester Brooks Tillotson, Hilton Tillotson ( Helen Post) and Sandi Norton ( David ).
She was predeceased by Calvin Tillotson (Ellie) and Muriel Tillotson.
A memorial service will be held in June and burial will be in Lake Placid.
