The Lake Placid Hall of Fame 26th annual induction dinner and ceremony will be held on Saturday, and congratulations to the newest Hall of Famers: Ron Butler, Reginald Clark, Richard Feldman, Shirley Seney and Gordon Wilson.
It is a noteworthy achievement to be named to any hall of fame — but to be bestowed with the honor of being recognized for one’s contribution to an entire community is truly an outstanding occurrence.
Each individual that has ever been named to the Lake Placid Hall of Fame has made a significant sports, cultural or civic contribution to the Olympic region. Their names are recognizable to just about everyone who is familiar with Lake Placid.
The 2009 class is no different. If you happen to see the aforementioned Hall of Famers in the coming days, please offer them congratulations, as they wholeheartedly deserve it.
Hopefully, each and every Lake Placidian keeps in mind the dedication to the community and region exhibited by the Class of 2009.
Certainly there are some people who are yet to be elected to the Hall of Fame — and fit the criteria of what it takes to enter its realm. For those individuals, perhaps the day will come when they too are recognized.
Until then, kudos to the 2009 inductees. Thanks for all you’ve done, and may continue to do, for Lake Placid.
