NEW YORK — William W. Prager Jr., 78, of New York City and a summer resident of Lake Placid since the early 1940s, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 in NYC after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
Bill Prager was a former member of the New York Stock Exchange. In recent years he was the president of the Solon E. Summerfield Foundation guiding the Foundation, in its mission of supporting education, social service, the arts and medical research. The foundation has been a longtime supporter of such local institutions as the Lake Placid Center for the Arts.
He is survived by his daughters: Karen Prager Balliett (Will) and Emily Prager; his granddaughters: Adelaide King Balliett and Charlotte Prager Balliett; and his sister Ruth Cogen, all summer residents of Lake Placid.
