LAKE PLACID — Charlyne M. “Cheri” Phillips, 75, of Cherry Street in Lake Placid, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born on May 16, 1934 in Potsdam, she was the daughter of Harold and Alice (Kennedy) Campbell.
Cheri had worked as front desk receptionist at the Lake Placid Club in Lake Placid, for the New York Telephone Company and, at the time of her death, she was a file clerk for the state Adirondack Park Agency in Ray Brook.
Mrs. Phillips and her husband Richard owned and operated As You Like It Meat and Deli in Lake Placid for several years. She was also an active member of the Lake Placid Senior Citizens in Lake Placid.
She is survived by her son Thomas Phillips and his wife Judy of Bartlett Carry; her daughter Kristol of Lake Placid; her stepson Richard Phillips and his wife Patricia of Cheshire, Mass.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
She was predeceased by her husband on Jan. 10, 2004.
The Phillips family invites friends and family to join them in a celebration of the life of Charlyne M. “Cheri” Phillips at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20 at St. Eustace Episcopal Church in Lake Placid. The Rev. Brock Baker will officiate.
Donations in memory of Cheri may be made to the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service, the American Cancer Society or St. Eustace Episcopal Church.
The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.
