A Memorial Service for Nicholas J. Kopchick, 68, of Naples, Fla., will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, May 15 at St. William Church, 601 Seagate Drive, Naples, Fla.
Nick was born in Granville to John and Helen Kopchick and graduated from SUNY Cortland and St. Lawrence University. He served as head of pupil personnel and guidance for 32 years at Lake Placid Central School before retiring to Naples in 1998. During his career, he was a member of NYSTA, NEA and NYSSCA. Nick was an avid reader, sports enthusiast, exuberant traveler and devoted family man.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Bettina (Eppolito); three children: Samuel (Colleen) of Davidson, N.C., Kimberly Ball (Bernard) of Raleigh, N.C. and Lorie Kates of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren: Connor and Kendall Kopchick; and a brother, Daniel Kopchick (Patricia) of Troy.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105 or to the American Cancer Society.
