LAKE PLACID — Veronica Barry Miner, 78, of Lake Placid, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Adirondack Medical Center-Mercy in Tupper Lake.
Born Feb. 1, 1931 in Lake Placid, she was the daughter of William Russell Barry and Harriet Mary (Haskins) Barry. She was the wife of Claude E. Miner.
Mrs. Miner had worked in Lake Placid as manager of the cafeteria at St. Agnes School, and retired in 1992. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Lake Placid, Court Dr. Tom Dooley No. 2183 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Lake Placid, and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 326, Lake Placid.
Mrs. Miner is survived by three sons: Barry Miner and his wife Joan of Carthage, David Miner and his wife Valerie of Shaftsbury, Vt. and Michael Miner and his wife Naomi of China Lake, Calif.; five daughters: Claudia Smith and her husband Charles “Joe” Smith, Jr., of Wilmington, Laurie Miner and her partner John Daily of Lake Placid, Pamela Wells and her husband Randy of Lady Lake, Fla., Carol Pierce and her husband Marc of Virginia Beach, Va. and Anna Lampart and her daughter Ananda of Sugarland, Texas; one son-in-law, John LaHart of Lake Clear; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Veronica was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Claude on June 22, 1999; one daughter, Donna LaHart; five brothers: John D. “Jack” Barry, James Barry, Charles Barry, Philip Barry and Joseph Barry; and three sisters: Margaret Barry, Isabel Barry Fisk and Mary Barry Cervo.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A rosary service will be offered by the Catholic Daughters of America at the funeral home Thursday at 7:40 p.m., followed by an American Legion Auxiliary Prayer Service and a Bible Vigil Service at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, with the Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating.
