Word has recently reached us that a friend and fellow newspaper person was scheduled to undergo serious surgery on Thursday, April 9 in Durham, North Carolina.
Many of you might remember the former editor and general manager of the Lake Placid News, Ron Landfried. He worked for the News for approximately 10 years from 1978 to 1988. Ron loved the community and the newspaper business, especially during the height of world focus when Lake Placid hosted the 1980 Winter Olympic Games.
Ron moved to Durham after leaving Lake Placid and is presently the editorial writer for the Herald-Sun there.
We would like to encourage anyone who remembers Ron to send him a message on www.carepages.com. You will find Ron’s carepage has a description of the surgery and recovery, so that will be a good place for people to find out more. His wife, Bebe, will be posting surgery updates all day.
Here is how you can post your message: Go to www.carepages.com, register to login according to directions. Click on the “visit” link along top of page. Search for Ron’s page: ronlandfried. (Note: It’s one word, lower case.) At his page, you can read Bebe’s posts on how he’s doing; you can also post messages to them.
There is nothing like words of encouragement and support from friends to help get on the road to recovery. Ron certainly would appreciate hearing from you and any prayers you can send his way.
