LAKE PLACID — Anna F. Varian, 88, of 185 Old Military Road, Lake Placid, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in New York City June 6, 1920, she was the daughter of James Aloysius Devanney and Helen Marie (Behrens) Devanney. Varian was the wife of Lt. Col. Jesse W. Varian.
She was a dedicated Army officer’s wife and a homemaker.
Anna is survived by one cousin, Muriel Higgins, of West Halifax, Vt.
She was predeceased by her husband on March 7, 1972 and her sister, Helen D. Anderson Reichert in 1984.
Mrs. Varian was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. next to her husband on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009.
The M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid was in charge of arrangements.
