LAKE PLACID — A memorial service will be held for Lucille L. Dodds in Macon, Ga. to celebrate her life. A graveside service will be held in Lake Placid in the spring.
Lucille was born in Moriah on Feb. 23, 1929, and raised in Lake Placid by her loving aunt and uncle, Lu and Clifford Straight.
She lived her life to its fullest, dividing her time between Lake Placid and Macon. As a career-minded woman, Lucille worked as a legal secretary for Roland Urfirer and then at the Adirondack Park Agency, before moving back to Georgia. She worked her way up at Robins Air Force Base from legal secretary to civilian transportation management specialist before retiring in 1993.
Through retirement, she spent time with her grandson and her pets, enjoyed gardening in her yard and was an active member of BPW, NARFE and Inner City Ministry. In the summers, Lucille could be found at the North Elba Historical Society Museum.
She is survived by her son, Michael Granby Stephen Dodds (Susan); her grandson Ernest Granby Dodds II of Macon; her brothers George Robinson Jr. and Byron Robinson of Scotia; and her stepgrandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Lucille was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Granby Dodds.
