LAKE PLACID — James F. St. Louis, 84, of Chickadee Lane, Lake Placid, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid.
Born Nov. 14, 1924 in Lake Placid, he was the son of Harold and Alice (Farrell) St. Louis. He was a veteran of World War II, and served in the U.S. Army. Prior to retiring in the late 1980s, Jim was a fire driver for the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department.
Jim is survived by one daughter, Barbara Whitney and her husband Robert of Lake Placid; two grandchildren: Lisa Whitney and Robert Whitney Jr., both of Lake Placid; four great-grandchildren: Alex Shumway, Brody, Emelie and Baylie Whitney, all of Lake Placid; two nephews: Michael St. Louis and his wife Sharon of Lake Placid and Martin St. Louis and his wife Shari of Lake Placid; and two nieces: Laura Peryea and her husband Larry of Ray Brook and Karen Preston and her husband Terry of Lake Placid.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Dorothy Stackhouse, on Dec. 27, 2002.
Calling hours were held Wednesday, Nov. 26 at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A fireman’s Prayer Service was held at 7:30 p.m. following the American Legion prayer service. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 26 at the funeral home following the American Legion prayer service. The Rev. Mark Demers officiated. Cremation followed. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Agnes Cemetery.
The family suggests donations in memory of Jim be made to the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department.
