MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — Suburban New York police have arrested a man on charges he kept a woman and 15-year-old girl captive for months. He is accused of forcing them to work as prostitutes.
Suffolk County Police say a 21-year-old woman was held for over a year. The teenager was allegedly held for about four months.
Suffolk County Police say 35-year-old Andy Gayot was arrested Tuesday at his Lindenhurst home. He was facing arraignment on prostitution, rape, unlawful imprisonment, weapons and drug charges Wednesday.
It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.
Police, probation officers and FBI agents went to the house because of a probation department warrant. Authorities did not immediately say why a warrant had been obtained
Police refused to say anything about the condition or whereabouts of the women.
