NEW YORK (AP) — Police say they've raided a Bronx apartment five days after a resident went to a police station with a container that tested positive for cyanide.
The NYPD says there is no indication the man had terrorist intentions. He was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
The man went to the 49th Precinct stationhouse on Friday night.
Police say they conducted the raid Wednesday night after the man belatedly told them there could be noxious substances in the apartment.
The Daily News (http://nydn.us/1gZU2Y8 ) says some sort of substance was recovered there. It's not yet clear what it is.
The man's wife, daughter and a friend were taken to a hospital as a precaution.
Cyanide is used in the mining industry and is regulated by the government.
