NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The latest winter storm has taken a heavy toll on air travel in the New York metropolitan region.
The flight tracking website FlightAware.com says all inbound flights to Newark Liberty Airport were being held at their origin until 4:30 p.m. due to snow and ice. The majority of flights departing earlier in the day were canceled.
As of late Thursday afternoon, departing flights from JFK Airport were being delayed by up to 30 minutes. Earlier in the day, about one-quarter of the routes from JFK were canceled by midmorning.
About half the inbound flights to New York's LaGuardia Airport were canceled earlier Thursday.
