Iron support made it happen
Well, yet another big weekend event and another successful one held in Lake Placid. The annual Ford Ironman USA Lake Placid Triathlon, although an inconvenience for some, once again demonstrated that the Olympic Village can pull together and successfully host a world-class event.
However, the event wouldn’t have been a success without all the volunteers, support staff and the entire community. Racers raved about both the volunteers and fans of the Ironman. Many competitors said they could not believe so many people stood out in the pouring rain as they ran, walked or biked past.
Hats off to all the volunteers who helped make this event so successful. Cheers to all the emergency support, including the village police department, state police, ambulance squads and fire departments from the entire region who helped make sure everyone was safe during the event. Kudos to anyone who helped make Ironman a success in little ways, perhaps not noticed by anyone.

Good Film Fest lineup
We’re glad that the Lake Placid Film Forum seems to be getting some of its old form back. Landing director Jonathan Demme, who will bring with him a new documentary about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, is a big deal, and probably a big draw for
