LPNE Historical Society Free Lecture

Join Caperton Tissot at the Lake Placid Howard Johnson for her presentation of “Oral histories of your community, saving the past for the future,” Based on her own experience; focus is on the interview process and the importance of saving oral histories in print. Caperton is a Saranac Lake resident, born in Massachusetts and educated in Virginia. Her poetry and prose are inspired by family, small communities, the arts and backcountry wilderness. She has written history accounts, memoirs, observations and social commentary. Works include a brochure, “Before you leave here find out where you have been,” summarizing the history of Saranac Lake; articles for Adirondack Life and the Adirondack Explorer, a book, History between the Lines; Women’s Lives and Saranac Lake Customs published in 2007; and various articles plus a shared weekly oral history column called “Friends and Neighbors” for the Adirondack Daily Enterprise.
