Winter triathlon in Montana

February 1, 2012 - Morgan Ryan
This sounds like a cool event:

BUTTE, Mont. (AP) — Mike Wolfe and Rebecca Dussault won titles Sunday in USA Triathlon’s Winter Triathlon National Championship at Homestake Lodge.

Wolfe, from Helena, Mont., completed the 5-kilometer run, 10-kilometer mountain bike and 5-kilometer cross-country ski course in 1 hour, 10 minutes, 20 seconds.

Matt Seeley of Polson, Mont., was second in 1:13:31.

Dussault, from Gunnison, Colo., won the women’s title for the third time in four years, finishing in 1:16:10 — the fifth-fastest overall time Sunday. Defending champion Emma Garrard of Park City, Utah, was second in 1:21:22.

Here’s an interesting story about the winter triathlon that ran in the Billings Gazette. I especially like the opening line: “Living out of a van with no immediate place to call home ...”
