| | Spring BreakApril 3, 2011 - Christie Sausa I was just in New Jersey and New York City for my spring break….and went skating on Rockefeller Center! It was about 40 degrees, and I was thrilled to skate. Spring might be almost here, but winter seems to be hanging on in Lake Placid; as evidenced by the snow/hail showers the other day. Here’s some news: • The Pond skimming competition will be held on April 9th instead of this Saturday. Pond skimming is an annual spring skiing tradition in which participants attempt to cross (“skim”) a small body of water on skis. Check Whiteface.com for more info. • Lake Placid might have hosted the World Figure Skating Championships. After the disaster in Japan, (where the World Championships were supposed to be held), the competition was postponed at that location indefinitely and a new host city was chosen; Moscow. However, Lake Placid was in the running to host the prestigious event. The competition will be April 24th to May 1st. • The Lake Placid Summer Figure Skating Camp is coming soon….check out Lake Placid Skating (link below) for more information.
