Walking into the Olympic Center this morning reminded me of all the Thanksgiving holidays Stars on Ice were here in years past. It was nice to see familiar faces, such as Scott Hamilton, Kimmie Meissner, Ekaterina Gordeeva, Illia Kulik, and Steven Cousins (all Stars on Ice alumni) who will skate along with Tugba Karademir, Caryn Kadavy, and Jozef Sabovcik tomorrow evening in Scott Hamilton’s Holiday Concert on Ice.

This year, Lake Placid residents were a bit surprised to not see Stars on Ice in Lake Placid; the tour took a brief hiatus until the Olympic season is over, to add current Olympic skaters to their already stellar cast. Now many of the cast members are back to skate in Scott Hamilton’s Holiday Concert on Ice.

According to Scott Hamilton, the idea for this ice show developed as a result of the lack of Stars on Ice this year. He and ORDA developed an idea for a show, and Scott Hamilton’s Holiday Concert on Ice was born. As per the title, the show will not only feature great skating, but musical performances by American Idols Melinda Doolittle and Phil Stacey. Live music in skating shows has become popular of late, and music and skating fans alike will enjoy both components of the show.
